Acorn has spotted the perfect stash — one last tree, one guarded branch. The forest is full of rivals and one very patient owl. Every move has to be perfect.

Acorn makes the leap. The branch holds. But when he turns to celebrate, he finds he is not alone — and the real owner of the nuts has just woken up.

Autumn is ending. Acorn gathers what he can while the other squirrels argue over territory. Survival means finding a place to hide and hoping it is enough.

He buries the last nut in a spot only he will remember. As the snow starts to fall, he sees a shape in the trees — and realizes he is not the only one preparing for winter.

A fallen nest, a single chick. Acorn is no hero — he has his own problems — but the little bird will not last the night alone. The forest watches to see what he will do.

He pushes the chick toward shelter, one hop at a time. Just when safety is in reach, a shadow crosses the path — and the choice becomes life or death.

From spring's first buds to winter's last stash, we follow Acorn through one full cycle. He learns which trees are kind, which branches bend, and which neighbors share.

On the final day, he sits on his favorite limb and watches the snow. He has done everything right. Then he hears a crack — and the limb gives way.

Something is wrong. The forest is too quiet. Acorn moves from cover to cover, heart pounding, every instinct telling him to run. The hawk has been hunting for hours.

He reaches the hollow log with seconds to spare. Inside, it is dark and safe. Until he notices the second set of eyes already waiting there.
